Chongar
Ukraine (USSR)
Chongar was founded in 1922 as a station on the Sevastopol railway line. In 1931 there were 282 Jewish farmers in Chongar, 270 of them worked on a kolkhoz. They made their living from producing salt and therapeutic mud, as well as from fishing.

Chongar was occupied by the Germans on August 15, 1941. At the beginning of 1942 18 or 19 Jews were murdered in the area of the Royter Shtern (Red Star) kolkhoz.

Chongar was liberated by the Red Army on October 30, 1943.
