The Jewish population of Maryina Gorka grew significantly at the beginning of twentieth century, numbering 786 people (12 percent of the total population) in 1939. During the Soviet era, most of the town’s Jews earned their livelihood in crafts, while dozens of families made a living from farming.

The German army occupied Maryina Gorka on June 28, 1941. The Germans ordered the Jews to wear a yellow badge on their backs. The ghetto was established in early September 1941. The town’s Jews were murdered in September 1941. Maryina Gorka was liberated on July 3, 1944.
