Gremyach
Ukraine (USSR)
Jews settled in Gremyach in the second half of the 19th century. Most of the Jews in the village were merchants. In 1918 soldiers of the Red Army carried out a pogrom in the village, killing 15 Jews and looting Jewish property. In 1939 Gremyach had 26 Jews, who comprised 0.7 percent of the total population. The village was occupied by Germans troops on August 27, 1941. The few Jews who remained in Gremyach were murdered by an SS murder squad. Gremyach was liberated by the Red Army on September 19, 1943.
