Katerinovka
Ukraine (USSR)
During the Soviet period the Jewish kolkhoz Fraylebn was established near the village of Katerinovka. Katerinovka was occupied by the Germans in August 1941. Some of the members of Fraylebn attempted to escape in the direction of Zaporozhye but were caught by the Germans and murdered near Chumaki village on August 15, 1941. The Jews who stayed in Katerinovka were concentrated into one house of the village and forced to work in agriculture. On September 21, 1941 they were murdered in the vicinity of the village. Katerinovka was liberated by the Red Army at the end of February 1944.
