Klichev
Belorussia (USSR)
Jews lived in Klichev from the mid-18th century. During the Soviet period local Jews worked in small crafts and commerce. In 1931 a 4-year Jewish school was opened in the town; it operated until 1938. On the eve of the war Klichev's 443 Jewish residents comprised 18.7 percent of the town's population. The Germans occupied Klichev at the beginning of July 1941. The town's Jews were killed in a single murder operation in October 1941. Klichev was liberated by the Red Army on June 28, 1944.
