Miniv Teodozia

Righteous
Miniv, Anna Gorn-Miniv, Teodozia Shuba-Miniv, Anna Before the outbreak of the war between Germany and the USSR, Anna Miniv, b.1902, her daughter, Anna, b.1928, and her sister, Teodozia, b.1908, were living in Borisław (now Boryslav, L’viv District). Among the Jewish families with whom the Minivs were acquainted was the family of Moshe Gendler, b.1923. Four months after the Germans invaded the area, on November 28, 1941, they carried out a killing operation (Aktion) against the Jews of the city. On the day following the Aktion, Moshe ran into Anna Miniv and told her that his family had been executed. She told him that if he needed a place in which to hide, he would be able to come to her home anytime. Indeed, during two Aktionen that were carried out in 1942, Moshe fled to Anna's home. When he entered the basement of her home he found other Jews there: Izya Hirshgorn, Polya Shenberg, and another Jew named Aizenstein. Anna Miniv, Teodozia, and Anna's daughter, demonstrated bravery and risked their own lives in saving the Jews. After each Aktion, all the Jews hiding in her home, except for Izya Hirshgorn, returned to the ghetto. On April 13, 1944, Moshe was sent to the Plaszów concentration camp, where he remained until his liberation in January 1945. Four years later he immigrated to Israel. Mr. Aizenstein and Polya Shenberg were wed after the liberation, in the summer of 1944, and at the end of the war they moved to Poland. After the war, Teodozia Miniv and Izya Hirshgorn were wed and the two immigrated to the U.S.A. In 1991, Moshe visited his birthplace and found Anna's daughter, Anna Miniv (later, Shuba), the only one of his rescuers who was still alive and living in the town, and he stayed in contact with her ever since. On January 25, 2005, Yad Vashem recognized Teodozia Miniv-Gorn, Anna Miniv and her daughter, Anna Miniv-Shuba, as Righteous Among the Nations.
