Harich, Anne-Liese
Anne-Liese Harich (née Wyneken), was the widow of literary historian and writer Walther Harich. Right from the outset she was a resolute opponent of the Nazi regime. In the spring of 1943, she was introduced to a young musician who called himself “Konrad Bauer” and wore a swastika insignia. She spontaneously dissociated herself from the supposed Nazi, but soon learned that he was an “illegal” Jew whose real name was Konrad Latte. She offered him long-term shelter at her villa in Zehlendorf (Berlin), providing him with the wardrobe of her son Wolfgang who had been drafted into the Wehrmacht. In addition, Harich also frequently provided board to Latte’s parents, who had also gone underground, but were eventually deported to their deaths in Auschwitz.
On August 12, 2002, Yad Vashem recognized Anne-Liese Harich as Righteous Among the Nations.
