Voronin Nikolai & Voronina Yevdokia ; Daughter: Mazur Olga (Voronina); Daughter: Solopova Yelena (Voronina)

Righteous
Voronin, Nikolay Voronina, Yevdokiya Solopova (Voronina), Yelena Mazur (Voronina), Olga Nikolay Voronin and his wife, Yevdokiya lived with their twin daughters, Yelena and Olga, in Krivoy Rog, in the district of Dnepropetrovsk (today Kryvyy Rih, Dnipropetrovs’k District). The Shlyonskiy couple and their three children lived on the same street. When the German-Soviet war broke out in 1941, Isaak Shlyonskiy enlisted in the army and was killed on the front. As the situation for Jews worsened, the Voronin family offered to help Shlyonskiy’s wife, Klara, and children. From then on, the Shlyonskiy children, sometimes separately and sometimes together, often stayed with the Voronins. One night in January 1942, when 11-year old Olga Shlyonskaya was sleeping in the Voronins’ home, a roundup took place in the vicinity and Klara and her other two children, Tsilya and Semyon, were caught and later executed. Olga (later Slonimskaya) remained hidden at the Voronins, and the 17-year-old twins helped take care of her. In summer 1942, as the house searches increased, Nikolay Voronin decided to move Olga to a safer place. He took her to the village of Khortitsa (Khortytsya), where he found her employment as a nanny with the village head’s family. No one in the village knew Olga’s true identity and she stayed there until the liberation, after which she returned to Krivoy Rog. On February 8, 1998, Yad Vashem recognized Nikolay and Yevdokiya Voronin and daughters, Yelena Solopova and Olga Mazur, as Righteous Among the Nations.
