Kreicarek, Michał-Marian
Kreicarek, Kazimiera
Shortly before the liquidation of the Przemyśl ghetto, in the Rzeszów district in September 1942, ten Jewish refugees – Wilhelm Rek, his wife and brother, (Samuel Goldstein) Shmul Goldztajn, his wife and their two children, (Dawid) David Frenkel and his baby son, and Bronisław Felsen – reached nearby Dubiecko, where they found a hiding place with their friends Michał-Marian and Kazimiera Kreicarek. The Kreicareks welcomed the Jewish refugees warmly, and despite the danger, hid them on their farm, shared their food with them, helped them, and saw to all their needs, without expecting anything in return. In risking their lives for their Jewish friends in an area that was swarming with collaborators, the Kreicareks were guided by a Christian love that triumphed over adversity. The ten Jewish refugees stayed with the Kreicareks until August 1944, when the area was liberated by the Red Army. After the war, they emigrated to Israel and the United States and never forgot how the Kreicareks had risked their lives to save them.
On September 13, 1963, Yad Vashem recognized Kazimiera and Michał-Marian Kreicarek as Righteous Among the Nations.
