In late 1942, shortly before the liquidation of the Lubaczow ghetto in the Rzeszow district, Wolf and Helena Remer escaped with their six-year-old son, Józef. With the help of a Polish acquaintance, the Remers were directed to the home of Antoni Dorota, a poor widower, who lived in the nearby village of Mlodow, with his six children. The Remers intended staying with Dorota for only a few days, but when Dorota discovered they had nowhere else to go, he insisted they stay. Dorota dug a hiding place for them under the floor of the hayloft, where he saw to all their needs and watched out for their safety until the area was liberated by the Red Army in June 1944. His daughter, Aniela, brought the refugees food, kept them clean, and looked after little Józef devotedly. After the war, the Remers immigrated to Canada, after first signing over the deeds of their home in Lubaczow to the Dorotas, as a token of their gratitude.
On May 5, 1992, Yad Vashem recognized Antoni Dorota and his daughter, Aniela Mirkowska-Dorota, as Righteous Among the Nations.
