Mager Johannes & Neeltje (Lagendijk)

Righteous
Mager, Johannes Gerardus & Neeltje (Lagendijk) In 1943, Johannes and Neeltje Mager were on vacation in a small hotel in Hoenderloo, Gelderland, where a Jewish couple was hiding. The owner of the place realized that the Jews would be in grave danger if they stayed much longer and asked Johannes, whom he knew was a member of the underground, what he should do with them. Johannes and Neeltje immediately gave the Heymann couple the keys to their home in Rotterdam and told them to avoid attracting the attention of the neighbors. The Heymanns remained at the Mager home for some time until Johannes and Neeltje returned and found them a permanent place to hide with Neeltje van Munster* in Delft. On June 30, 1983, Yad Vashem recognized Johannes Gerardus Mager and his wife, Neeltje Mager-Lagendijk, as Righteous Among the Nations.
