Dekker Cornelis & Amanda (Surname unknown)

Righteous
Dekker, Cornelis & Amanda Betje (Batya) Polak and her fiancé, Menachem Rozen, had found shelter with a young woman named Pietje Besse*, who was living with her one-year-old son in Hillegom, South Holland. When they heard that a house search was imminent, the Jewish couple had to relocate. With the help of the underground, Betje managed to find a new refuge with Dr. Cornelis Dekker and his wife, Amanda, in Amersfoort, Utrecht. The Dekkers hid her for 15 months, until the end of the war. In the meantime, Menachem received the identity card of a young man who had been called up for forced labor in Germany. He assumed his identity and went to Germany, where he survived the war. On June 26, 1980, Yad Vashem recognized Cornelis Dekker and his wife, Amanda Dekker, as Righteous Among the Nations.
