Blashkevich Anton & Evgenia ; Daughter: Parkhin Maria (Blashkevich)

Righteous
Blashkevich, Anton Blashkevich, Yevgeniya Blashkevich, Mariya Anton Blashkevich, his wife, Yevgeniya, and their children, Mariya (b. 1928) and Alfred (b. 1930) lived on a khutor near the village of Ochrymowce (today Okhrimivtsi), halfway between Zbaraż and Tarnopol (Zbarazh and Ternopil’). One evening in July 1943, Jakub Dudar, a Polish young man who was friendly with the Blashkeviches, visited the khutor. He told them that a few weeks earlier, his father, Karol Dudar, had brought three Jews from the Tarnopol ghetto to their home and hid them in the attic. However, Dudar told the Blashkeviches, following a family argument, one of his brothers-in-law had threatened to inform on the hidden Jews. Dudar therefore asked the Blashkeviches if they were prepared to hide them in their home for a short while. The Blashkeviches agreed to do so and, that night, Menachem Migdan and his wife, Chava, moved into their home. They were hidden in the loft of the granary, and the Blashkeviches brought them food every day. Weeks passed, and no one came to collect the Migdan couple. Then, when news reached the Blashkeviches and their wards that Dudar had been executed for helping Jews, the Migdans offered to leave their hideout to avoid endangering the lives of their hosts. However, the Blashkeviches insisted that their wards remain with them, although Yevgeniya’s brother had joined the Ukrainian nationalists. The Blashkeviches’ daughter Mariya did everything she could to raise the Migdans’ spirits. The Migdans stayed with the Blashkeviches until March 1944, just a few days before the liberation. After the war, the Migdans immigrated to Israel. In the 1990s, Chava Migdan returned to visit the khutor on which they hid during the war, and simultaneously renewed contact with the family of her rescuers. On January 26, 1994, Yad Vashem recognized Anton and Yevgeniya Blashkevich and their daughter, Mariya Blashkevich, as Righteous Among the Nations.
