Kaliński, Zenon Kalińska, Eugenia Kaliński, Zbigniew Zenon and Eugenia Kaliński lived with their son, Zbigniew, in the town of Przemyslany in Eastern Galicia. In 1942, the Kalińskis sheltered and looked after five local Jewish girls – Sianka Berger, Mariana Berger, Mindy Gross, Hanka Felter and Stella Baum. None of the neighbors knew of their existence, and when the Germans began conducting a house-to-house search for Jews, Zbigniew escaped with the fugitives to the nearby forest and stayed with them until the liberation. After the war, Zbigniew married Sianka Berger and they and all the survivors immigrated to the United States. Later the survivors testified that the Kalińskis helped other Jews, too, who were hiding in the forests near Przemyslany. On January 31, 1994, Yad Vashem recognized Eugenia and Zenon Kaliński, and their son, Zbigniew, as Righteous Among the Nations.
