Kooy van der, Piet & Jannie (Valkenburg) After Miriam van Praagh was betrayed and forced to leave her hiding place with the de Wit* family, she was taken in by Piet van der Kooy, a farmer, and his wife, Jannie, who lived in Maasland, South Holland. The van der Kooys had nine children and Miriam worked for them as a maid. Miriam was forced to leave when the Germans began organizing house-to-house searches. On May 28, 1978, Yad Vashem recognized Piet van der Kooy and his wife, Jannie van der Kooy-Valkenburg, as Righteous Among the Nations.
