WOJDYLAK, JÓZEF WOJDYLAK, ANNA Józef and Anna Wojdylak lived with their three young children, Wanda (born 1933), Cecylia (born 1935), and Stanisław (born 1940), in Zielonka, near Przemyśl, where they had a house and a farm. From the fall of 1942, they gave shelter to nine Jews from the Przemyśl ghetto. They were Dr. Marek Turkel, his wife Diana, their children Witold (about fourteen) and Janina (about eight), as well as Aleksander Kromberg (a lawyer) and his wife Helena. Also included were Mundek Fast-Fałat, his wife Stefania, and Jakub Reinbach. “We were guided first of all by humanitarian motives, and then by prewar acquaintances,” wrote Anna and Józef in their testimony. They added that, “we hid these people without any benefit, and the money we got from them we used for our joint upkeep, and when they had none - we paid the money for upkeep, within the limits of our then modest means.” All of those hidden by the Wojdylaks survived to see the liberation in July 1944. Most of those hidden emigrated from Poland after the war. On June 27, 1985, Yad Vashem recognized Józef Wojdylak and his wife, Anna Wojdylak, as Righteous Among the Nations. File 3243
