Pasławska Rozalia (Kubień); Husband: Pasławski Bolesław

Righteous
Pasławska, Rozalia Pasławski, Bolesław In March 1943, after the liquidation of the Krakow ghetto, Mr. and Mrs. Kardisch continued to work in the Optima factory on the Aryan side of the city, hiding their two children, Renia and Romek in the factory as well. There, they met Rozalia Pasławska, the wife of Bolesław Pasławski, a minor factory official. The Kardisches felt that they could trust Pasławska and told her about their two children hiding in the factory. The story touched Pasławska, who had three children of her own, and without setting any preconditions, she offered to hide the children in her home. She told them she had connections with a Polish underground organization that helped Jews, and if necessary, she could ask the organization for financial help to care for the children. Mr. and Mrs. Kardisch were eventually deported to a concentration camp and their two children remained with the Pasławski family. One day, a Polish neighbor happened to discover that the Pasławskis were hiding two Jewish children in their home, and attempted to blackmail them. Pasławska refused to pay what he asked and he informed on them to the authorities. Pasławska was arrested with young Romek, but his sister Renia managed to escape and hide in the church. Pasławska was thrown in prison and tortured, and only thanks to the confusion caused by the approaching front was she able to escape from prison and hide. Romek was murdered, but his sister Rena was returned to the Pasławski family by the priest that discovered her presence in the church. Of the parents, who had been deported to Bergen-Belsen, only the mother Ester Kardisch remained alive. Later, she movingly related her meeting with the Pasławskis when she came to reclaim her children, only to learn that they had been tragically unable to save her son Romek. Kardisch came to them ill and exhausted and they cared for her as if she were a member of the family, and helped her and her daughter Rena to get back on their feet. Kardisch and her daughter eventually immigrated to Israel, but they never forgot the Pasławski family that helped them in their time of greatest need. They continued to remain in touch with them, corresponding and helping them financially in any way they could. On June 19, 1979, Yad Vashem recognized Rozalia Pasławska and her husband Bolesław Pasławski as Righteous Among the Nations.
