File 782b SOROCZYŃSKA, Galina (Halina) Galina Soroczyńska lived in Krzemieniec, in Volhynia during the war. She gave shelter to her prewar friend, Henryk Kot (of Lodz) in her home. When she could no longer continue to hide Henryk, Galina sent him to a friend of hers, Aleksandra Tarasowa*,where seven other Jews were already hiding. It was there that Henryk awaited liberation. Galina, a nurse by profession, regularly visited the Tarasowa’s home, bringing newspapers and keeping the hidden Jews' spirits up. Henryk Kot later emigrated to France. On June 22, 1976, Yad Vashem recognized Galina Soroczyńska as Righteous Among the Nations.
