Oldenburger, Aaltjo
Aaltjo Oldenburger was instrumental in saving the lives of Maurits Jacobs and his wife Ro (née van Dam), from Emmen, Drenthe. Aaltjo belonged to the Zefat* group, which saved Jews in the southeast corner of Drenthe. Aaltjo made contact with the group when the couple was ordered to report for deportation to Westerbork and helped look after them and the other Jews hiding in a forest north of Valthe.
On November 29, 1979, Yad Vashem recognized Aaltjo Oldenburger as Righteous Among the Nations.
