Kozakiewicz, Florian
Six Jewish refugees from the town of Równe in the Wołyń district owe their lives to Florian Kozakiewicz, a farmer from the remote village of Worotniow. Kozakiewicz, guided by humanity and compassion, offered the refugees temporary shelter in a bunker near his farm, without expecting anything in return. Despite the danger of betrayal by antisemitic neighbors, Kozakiewicz supplied the Jews under his care with food and clothes, until, thanks to his contacts in the underground, they joined a partisan unit in the area. Of the six survivors, only one is known: Dr. Bolesław Ratniewski, who settled in Mexico after the war. He kept up a close correspondence with Kozakiewicz, who, after the war, moved to an area within the new borders of Poland.
On November 20, 1986, Yad Vashem recognized Florian Kozakiewicz as Righteous Among the Nations.
