Grabska Bronisława

Righteous
null
Grabska, Bronisława In 1943, Tzipora Kesler fled from the Lwow ghetto and, with “Aryan” documents in her possession, reached Krakow, where she obtained work as a waitress in a military camp. Soon after, she became friendly with Bronisława Grabska, a fellow worker, and the two decided to share an apartment. Grabska only found out her friend’s true identity when the janitor became suspicious. Far from undermining their friendship, this discovery served to strengthen it. At Grabska’s initiative, the two friends moved into a new apartment, where Grabska introduced Kesler as her cousin. Kesler and Grabska shared this apartment and worked together until Krakow was liberated by the Red Army in January 1945. In risking her life for Kesler, Grabska was motivated by a true friendship and loyalty, which triumphed over adversity. Even after Kesler immigrated to Israel, the two remained good friends. On January 12, 1984, Yad Vashem recognized Bronisława Grabska as Righteous Among the Nations.
