Devivier Yvonne

Righteous
null
Devivier, Yvonne In April 1943, Rosa Lederman from Brussels, whose husband had already been deported in October 1942, sought to save her daughters, two-year-old Annette and one-year-old Marguerite. Through contact with Andrée Geulen of the CDJ, a place was found for Annette with Yvonne Devivier, who lived with her mother and sister in a small house in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Brussels. Rosa visited Annette once a month, on which occasions she brought ration cards for her. Although she was treated well, Annette missed her sister very much. In July 1943, Rosa fetched her, and took her and her sister Marguerite to Eduard Frans* and his wife Clémentine (née van Buggenhout). Rosa Lederman was eventually deported and neither she nor her husband survived. Yvonne Devivier also sheltered Jeannine Rafalovitz (alias Jeannine Raymond), beginning April 1943 until the liberation, in September 1944. It is reported that other children also stayed in Devivier’s home for shorter periods of time, including Abraham Cukier, Albert Fraylich, David Kornschendler, and a girl named Rebecca (alias Régine), On March 27, 1996, Yad Vashem recognized Yvonne Devivier as Righteous Among the Nations.
