Jews were present in 1462 and were living under various letters of protection from 1528. They numbered 74 in 1880 (total 761) and 53 in 1933. Sixteen left up to early 1938. On “Kristallnacht” (9-10 Nov. 1938), the synagogue was vandalized and religious articles set on fire in the street. The Jews were then forced to sell their homes and reside in a single house. By 1941 another 17 had left. Of the remaining ten, seven were deported to Izbica in the Lublin district (Poland) via Wuerzburg on 25 April 1942 and three to the Theresienstadt ghetto on 23 September.
