KLADNO, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, today Czech Republic. Jews settled in the early 19th century, consecrating a synagogue in 1889. Numbering 430 in 1900, they played an active role in the mining industry. In 1930, 210 remained (total 20,751). In February 1942, they were among the 1,623 Jews transported from the county to the Theresienstadt ghetto, all but 120 perishing.
