LANDESHUT (Polish Kamienna Gora) Lower Silesia, Germany.
Jews were granted residence rights in 1812 and numbered 53 in 1840. They maintained a prayer house and two cemeteries (from 1824 and 1880). A synagogue was consecrated in 1858. The Jewish population reached a peak of 177 in 1884 but dropped to 74 by the start of the Nazi era. Most Jews left in the face of Nazi persecution, with just 14 remaining in 1939. On Kristallnacht (9-10 November 1938), four Jewish business establishments were destroyed. No information is available as to the fate of the community during WWII. Presumably those Jews who were unable to leave were deported and died.
