Hattersheim am Main Hesse-Nassau, Germany. Jewish families lived there from the mid 17th century, establishing a community that had several dozen members in nearby Hofheim and Okriftel up to 1788. Numbering 32 in 1885, the Jews of Hattersheim never built a synagogue and worshiped in private homes. Seven Jews emigrated to the U.S. before Kristallnacht (9-10 November 1938); four perished in the Theresienstadt ghetto and Auschwitz in 1942-3.
