Photos
The photograph was sent home by a German soldier or policeman in 1942 through Warsaw and was intercepted in a post-office by Jerzy Tomaszewski, a member of the Polish Resistance.
The original inscription on its back reads:"Urkraine 1942, Jewish Aktion, Ivanogrod".
A vertically cropped copy of the photo was in the Yad Vashem collection and was displayed in the old historical museum. It was replaced in 2005 by a copy of the original photo from the USHMM.
Yad Vashem's original photo collection was composed of photos taken out of files during the organization of the archives.
