Germans near the cemetery raising their arms in a Nazi salute. Ohlendorf and six other senior SS men found guilty of war crimes by the British were hanged at the Landsberg prison. The police found two inscriptions on the wreaths laid at the site: "Grass shall never grow again at the site of this hanging" and "There is no better death than at the hands of the enemy."
