Early August in 1941 two Jewish Judges, Wolf Kieper and Moshe Kagen, were convicted of affiliation with the ChGK, the Soviet Secret Police.
On 07/08/1941, 402 Jewish men were assembled in the main square. Before this a car drove down the streets informing the population in both German and Ukrianian that the two judges were to be hung.
Large crowds gathered round to watch the hanging, and members of the crowd participated in beating, humiliating and murdering the 402 Jews.
