Eckernförde, Germany, A monument to the Stutthof prisoners who were killed on the landing craft that was stranded next to Booknis beach on 4/05/1945

A landing craft of the German fleet, was used by the SS to evacuate the Jewish inmates from the Stutthof camp to Kiel on 02/05/1945. The craft was attaсked on the way by British planes, and caught fire. The SS guards abandoned it and the crew brought it to shore near Kiel with the inmates.
