Dora Arenson was born, 1921 to Shlema and Fenya. She was a telephonist. Prior to WWII she lived in Novo Poltavka, Ukraine (USSR). During the war she was in Makhachkala, Russia (USSR). Dora was registered following the evacuation/ in the interior of the Soviet Union.
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
