Roma Gritzevski was born, 1933 to Nukhim and Yenta. He was child. Prior to WWII he lived in Kamenka Shevchenkovskaya, Ukraine (USSR). During the war he was in Makhachkala, Russia (USSR). Roma was registered following the evacuation/ in the interior of the Soviet Union.
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
