Emma Galperina was born, 1935 to Moisey and Fanya. She was child. Prior to WWII she lived in Staryye Dorogi, Belorussia (USSR). During the war she was in Dyurtyuli, Russia (USSR).
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
