Elka Adesnikova was born in Vetka, Belorussia (USSR) in 1901 to Salomon. She was a seamstress. Prior to WWII she lived in Klintsy, Russia (USSR). During the war she was in Marksshtadt,Nemtsev Povolzhya ASSR,Russia (USSR), Russia (USSR). Elka was registered following the evacuation to the interior of the Soviet Union.
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
