Sofya Shkolnik Edelshtein nee Shkolnikov was born in Haifa, British Mandate for Palestine, 1917 to Velful Volodya and Lena. She was a translator and married to Iosif. Prior to WWII she lived in Birobidzhan, Russia (USSR). During the war she was in Kamenets Podolskiy, Ukraine (USSR).
