Sholom Barkan was born in Logoysk, Belorussia (USSR), 1920 to David and Libeta nee Mezo. He was a student and single. Prior to WWII he lived in Logoysk, Belorussia (USSR). During the war he was in the Soviet armed forces. Sholom was killed in military service in WWII. Place of death: Stalingrad, Russia (USSR), 1943.
Among the Jewish soldiers killed in WWII, especially in the Red Army, tens of thousands were singled out and murdered as Jews while in captivity as prisoners of war.
