Aleksandr Groysman was born in Novovorontsovka, Ukraine (USSR), 1935 to Lev and Ida. He was child. Prior to WWII he lived in Novovorontsovka, Ukraine (USSR). During the war he was in Aydyrlya Stantsiya, Russia (USSR). Aleksandr was registered following the evacuation/ in the interior of the Soviet Union.
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
