Was Registered Following the Evacuation/ in the Interior of the Soviet Union
Mariyam Blyumshteyn was born in Varshava, Poland, 1933 to Aron and Khaya. She was an uchashchayasya and child. Prior to WWII she lived in Pukhovichi, Belorussia (USSR). During the war she was in Kambarka, Russia (USSR). Mariyam was registered following the evacuation/ in the interior of the Soviet Union.
Following the Nazi onslaught on 22 June 1941, about one and a half million Jewish residents of the Soviet Union were evacuated or fled to the interior of the country. They had to leave everything behind and find refuge in difficult conditions of food scarcity, harsh weather and disease.
