The city and The City

סרט תיעודי על קהילת יהודי סלוניקי. שבסלוניקי חיה, והשפיעה אחת מהגדולות בקהילות היהודיות. התושבים היהודים היוו למעלה מחמישים אחוז מתושבי העיר ולכן נחשבה לאחת הקהילות החשובות ביותר בין קהילות הבלקן. הגרמנים נכנסו לסלוניקי באפריל 1941 והחלו לפעול מידית כנגד היהודים. בינואר 43' הטיל אייכמן את המשימה של חיסול יהודי סלוניקי על עוזרו. לאחר שהיהודים רוכזו בשלושה גטאות צפופים התחילו הנאצים בשילוחים, בחודש מרץ הקהילה הגדולה והמפוארת הושמדה כמעט לחלוטין. היום הקהילה בסלוניקי מונה פחות מאלף יהודים. שרידים בודדים לקהילה משמעותית.

Life Will Smile

A short docu-drama. It narrates the untold story of the humanism and bravery of the Greek civil society in the small, southernmost Ionian island, where with courage and commitment, the 35,000 inhabitants, saved every single one of their Jewish brothers & sisters. In doing this, they were led by two brave men; Bishop hrysostomos and the Mayor of Zakynthos. For their fearless action, the two men were honored by Yad Vashem in 1978 as "Righteous Among the Nations".

Farewell, My Island

docu,entqry: In the early morning hours of Friday, June 9, 1944, 1,750 member of the Jewish Community of Corfu were rounded up and taken to the kastro, the island’s fortress. They were all transported to Auschwitz. Only 121 would return. The film is 22 minutes long, the exact time it took for the Nazis to get the Jews from the round-up area to the docks. Through interviews with some of the survivors, we follow their little known journey.

A documentary. Isaak Dostis is searching for memory, both individual and collective. The endeavor has taken him to Albania, Greece, Israel and America. Memory is emotional. When it is lost to history, it becomes a statistic. Statistics are beyond individual moments. At that point, it is beyond history. Isaak’s memory of his father, Sam, will sink into oblivion once no one remembers his memory. The film is an attempt to stay that execution.

We Are Not Alone- Greek Jews & The Holocaust

A documentary. For many years all Isaac Dostis knew of the family he lost to the title known Holocaust in Greece was two photos on his parents' bureau. No one ever talked of what occured. Recently , he and his wife, Diana, went to Israel and Greece to visit the surviving family on his mother's side. The saga began: seven of the family were saved by a Righteous , many more perished. This film is a docymentary of the joy and sadness that attends both sides of the story.
