The women interviewed were born from 1897 to 1939 and come from different backgrounds. About half of the women experienced the Nazi era, war and postwar period than adults, while the other half was born in the 1920s who was the appropriate time as teenagers. The great heterogeneity of the crop is reflected in the issues raised re: Nazi era, memories of the Second World War and the situation in the postwar period are discussed in the interviews - but from very different perspectives.
