This documentary tells of Mahal, about 3,000 volunteers, both Jewish and non-Jewish, who fought in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War for the new state of Israel. They were mostly World War II veterans from American and British armed forces. The largest presence of Mahal was felt in the Israeli Air Force (IAF). A total of 119 Mahalniks were killed in battle. After the end of the war in 1949, the majority of the Machal returned to their home countries. Some remained to live in Israel. Altalena

The documentary tells the story of Altalena, an Etzel Hagana ship which Hagana men blew up on June 22th, 1948 at Tel-Aviv beach. Three of the founding fathers of Israel were involved in this event: David Ben-Gurion, Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Rabin. Why did Ben-Gurion instruct Israeli soldiers to open fire? Why did Yitzhak Rabin call this day "the blackest day in my life?" The film follows the journey of the Altalena from its departure from the port in France, with 930 man, many of which Holocaust survivors, and ammunition on board.

Documentary film about Mordechai (Motti) Hod (Fein) (1926-2003), the seventh Commander-in-Chief of the Israeli Airforce. Hod was born in Kibbutz Degania.
