The Descendants Project

This documentary is the up close and personal account of two friends looking for the truth about their families past. In Germany and Poland, their journey becomes a raw and unapologetic discovery of how WWII inheritance impacts their friendship three generations later. Turning the tables on traditional ancestral research, Katinka and Michal seek out other 3rd and 4th generation "descendants" to discuss how WWII Holocaust history is relevant in their lives today. Born in Riga in 1942, filmmaker Rosa Von Praunheim grew up in Germany. When his mother told him a few years before her death at the age of 94 that he was adopted from a children's home in Riga during the German occupation, a whole new chapter in his life opened up. Amants des hommes

During the Nazi regime, 100,000 men were arrested for homosexuality and 15,000 were deported, including 210 Frenchmen. After the depenalization of homosexuality, only one of the deported men from France had the courage to go public about an extradition that even now is not officially recognised. Alternating excerpts from Pierre Seel's autobiography "Moi Pierre Seel, déporté homosexuel" and conversations with militant gays, "Amants des hommes" seeks to shed light on a forgotten history, linking the past with the present and yesterday's homophobia with that of today.

A Love To Hide

Venetian Heat
