This is the story of 16 000 people that lived in the big town of Cluj, capital of Transylvania. When war broke in their lives changed completely. In 1945 only 20% of them were still alive. As Holocaust destroyed lives and memories as well, this film tries to keep alive the history of an old and flourishing community.
Filmmaker, historian, and author Raphael Delpard released this Documentary film, which focuses on the Jewish victims transported from France to Nazi concentration camps during World War II, in cattle car convoys operated by SNCF – the French national train company. Delpard himself was one of the fortunate few who survived the harrowing and unforgettable journey and subsequent imprisonment.
