Australian documentary focuses on the lives of European Jews who settled in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton in the 1940s, fleeing World War II atrocities and post-War conditions. Interestingly the Jews from Eastern Europe clashed with Anglo-Jews, settled in the nineteenth century, who identified as British rather than Jewish and disapproved of the too obvious presence of Sephardic Jews, with whom they feared association. Old Country

This is a video dance by the choreographer-dancer Allen Kaeja that is based on the successful stage performance. The work examines the dynamics of a community confronting the war and the changes that they go through in a time of crisis. It is based on true events that occurred in Kutno, Poland. First broadcast on Canadian CBC Channel 18th March 2004. It was nominated for the Gemini Award, a Canadian Television Prize.
