International Holocaust Memorial Day was commemorated on 27 January 2014 at the ICTY, and throughout the United Nations. This day was recognized at the Tribunal with particular attention to the heroic efforts of men and women from the Balkans who risked their lives trying to save Jews from certain death. For the event, three holocaust survivors from the former Yugoslavia were invited to tell their positive stories of rescue.
