An Episode in "The World: A Television History", a documentary series on the history of the world, based on the Times Atlas of World History. The 1929 crash of the American stock market preceded a decade of worldwide depression in which the defeated nations of WWI seemed to suffer most. Germany turns to Hitler and his promises of regained glory and WWII begins. A three-cornered contest of democrats, Nazis and Communists for the future of the world leads, among other things, to Communist control of China.
