A documentary film. Preliminary estimates indicate that the first wave of Jews who settled in Albania were survivors of a shipwreck containing Jewish slaves on their way to Rome as early as 70 CE. Based on original documents and eyewitnesses, HUG OF DESTINY is a documentary about the history of Jewish people in Albania and Kosovo, including the largely unknown story of Jewish lives saved by Muslims during the Holocaust. Special appearances are made by Edi Rama (Albania’s Prime Minister), Kadri Veseli (President of Kosovo’s Parliament), and Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel’s Prime Minister).

Beyond History: My Father & the Greek Jews of Albnia

A documentary. Isaak Dostis is searching for memory, both individual and collective. The endeavor has taken him to Albania, Greece, Israel and America. Memory is emotional. When it is lost to history, it becomes a statistic. Statistics are beyond individual moments. At that point, it is beyond history. Isaak’s memory of his father, Sam, will sink into oblivion once no one remembers his memory. The film is an attempt to stay that execution.
