You're on Your Own- The Story of Meir Brand

A short documentary. Meir Brand was born in 1936 in Bochnia, Poland to a religious Jewish family. In 1941, he was deported along with his family to the Bochnia Ghetto. In August 1943, his parents sensed the ghetto was soon to be liquidated, and they decided to plan Meir's escape in order to leave a remnant of the family. They paid a Pole to take Meir and cousins Miriam and Itek on a three week journey by foot to the Slovak border. תקליטור שני מתוך האופרה Mala מאת המלחין והמנצח היווני Nikos Karvelas בעקבות סיפורה של מלה צימטבאום/ Mala Zimetbaum. מלה, נודעה כאשה היהודיה הראשונה שניסתה להימלט מאושוויץ ביוני 1944. היא נתפסה עי פטרול גרמני. בן זוגה, אדק גילינסקי, אסיר פולני הסגיר עצמן אף הוא , לאחר שנעצרה. מלה נודעה בהתנגדותה להוצאתה להורג עד לרגע האחרון. דמותה של מלה מגולמת על ידי Anna Vissi. רעייתו של המלחין והמנצח.

סרט תיעודי. הסרט השלישי בסדרת סרטים על "מחתרת תנועות הנוער היהודיות ציוניות בהונגריה" על פעילותה להצלת יהודי בודפשט. בין היתר מוזכר שם חסיד אומות העולם , קרל לוץ. סגן קונסול שווייץ בהוגריה, שדאג לתעודות מזוייפות ליהודי בודפשט, בבניין קונסוליית שוויץ בבודפשט. בניין הקונסוליה כונה 'בית הזכוכית' על שם דלתות הזכוכית שבחזיתו.
