Cod Name Cor - The Dramatic Life of Max Windmueller

Germany, 1933. Max Windmüller is 13 years-old. The Nazis withdraw his father’s trading license, and the Jewish family from Emden go into exile in Holland. Here, Max prepares himself for a new life in Palestine. Although he actually manages to secure a ship passage in 1939, he is persuaded to continue working in Holland and joins the resistance movement. Max now works alongside the people who later call themselves the “Westerweel Group“. He is constantly on the move in France, Holland and Belgium. He hands out forged identity papers, smuggles people to safety, and seeks contact with other resistance organisations. In this way the group saves the lives of more than 500 people. In the Summer of 1944 he is betrayed in Paris and shot dead by a guard on a death march heading for Dachau. Max Windmüller was only 25 years-old when he died.
