The Last Refuge

Upon learning of Hitler's plans for the "Final Solution," millions of European Jews sought refuge all over the world, only to be turned away nearly everywhere they went. Shanghai, at the time under Japanese occupation, welcomed some 18,000 Jewish refugees.
